Environmental Protection
States and individuals today put significant effort to partake in development of the environmental protection system. We, on our side, try to be a functional part of the system by demonstrating corporate responsibility in that aspect too. We believe that apprehending the significance of environmental protection plays a major role in securing healthy work environment and sound long-term relations with people living around us.
Well known is the fact that we passed through a period of difficult economical and financial situation, when there were no possibilities for plants improvement and modernization. Subsequently, the environmental protection activities were suspended. Today, our environmental policy has reached the level of compliance and fulfillment of requirements in producing thermo-electrical energy that arise from the International Standard ISO 14000. Requirements of the Standard are interwoven with all developmental projects that are in the preparation phase or already in progress. At the same time, European Union regulations are being seriously considered and applied wherever the possibilities allow in the current situation.
Environmental protection is a dynamic process, which has to meet both current and upcoming challenges. We try to hold pace with the world, therefore working on the increase of energy efficiency level, reduction and proper waste management, decrease of emission and imission of pollutant into environment, staff education and constant inclusion of environmental aspect into decision-making process at the level of the Business Organization – has become a standard practice.
Concretely defined aims for 2010 are:
- purchase and installment of a system for continual monitoring of pollutant emission in TPP-HP Novi Sad and TPP-HP Zrenjanin,
- substitution of fuel oil with natural gas,
- use of distillate fuel oil (fuel oil with low level of sulphur),
- decrease of pollutant emission, especially SO2 and NОx, and
- sustainable management of waste and waste-water.
- Continual Emission Monitoring
In order to have precise and regular data related to its influence on air quality in plant’s surroundings, Panonske TE-TO have launched an initiative for purchasing devices of highest standards for their continual monitoring. Analytical data, available at any given moment, will provide Panonske TE-TO with the possibility to control and manage the emission.
The device will be operational in TPP-HP Novi Sad immediately after the trial run – in October 2010. The same project is in the implementation phase in TPP-HP Zrenjanin. Namely, the contractor was selected, while the device should start monitoring the emission effectively in January 2011.
The aim that Panonske TE-TO have set for the coming period is publishing the real-time monitoring results via corporate website. It would enable broader public to keep track of our plants’ compliance with the legally specified values concerning emission in a simple, user-friendly manner.
